About Luis Ortez

Co-Owner, Upright Forklift Repair — Humble, Texas

Luis Ortez didn’t set out to start a business. He set out to do the job right.

He spent years working in the forklift repair trade around Houston, learning the machines and learning the industry. He got good at both. But somewhere along the way, he started noticing something that bothered him. Customers would bring in a forklift with a straightforward problem and walk out paying for work they didn’t need. Not always. But enough. Shops would see a warehouse manager who didn’t know a mast from a motor, and they’d take advantage of that. Luis watched it happen more than once, and it sat wrong with him.

So he and his co-owner started Upright Forklift Repair in Humble, Texas, with one simple idea behind it: treat people the way you’d want to be treated if you didn’t know anything about forklifts.

That sounds basic. In practice, it means Luis will walk through your machine, tell you what’s wrong, and give you an honest picture of what makes sense. If the repair is worth doing, he’ll do it right. If it isn’t — if your mast is shot and a rebuild doesn’t pencil out — he’ll tell you to look at replacing the truck and point you toward a dealer he actually trusts. He’d rather lose the job than steer somebody wrong. That’s not a sales pitch. It’s just how he operates.

Over nearly twenty years, Luis has worked on just about everything the Greater Houston area runs. He knows Toyota, Crown, Hyster, Yale, Komatsu, and Cat machines the way some people know their own trucks. He’s done repair work in Houston warehouses, out along the Ship Channel at petrochemical plants where equipment downtime means real money, at lumberyards up toward Conroe, in food-service facilities where cleanliness and reliability aren’t optional, and in medical device operations where the standards are tight and there’s no room for guesswork. Each environment is different. Luis pays attention to that.

He’s a Houston native, which means he understands the pace and the culture of the industries here. People are busy. They don’t need a runaround. They need their equipment running and somebody they can call back if something’s not right. Luis is that guy. On weekends you’ll probably find him with his family, or outside with smoke rolling off a grill, which is about as Texas as it gets — and he’d tell you that himself without any embarrassment.

Upright Forklift Repair serves the greater Houston area, and Luis is reachable directly when you need him.
